"Wait, we are getting off-track Jak. Let's work on figuring out the skill stuff later. I'm going to touch the crystal and see what is available, so we can decide what to do next," Lee told them, heading off the discussion about Identify and what Chloe had said about calling out skills.

He approached the crystal and touched it.

He read these options to everyone and then selected "Town Settings."

Town Settings:

● Set Tax Rate

● Restore Defaults

He read these off, then asked Chloe, "There doesn't seem to be much in the way of options. Why not?"

Chloe responded, "These are the basic settings. More options are added as buildings and features are purchased through the shop."

"What shop?" Lee asked, confused about this.

"When you activate the default settings the shop will become available at the counters. By default, town citizens can access the shop to purchase items. You and your assistants have an additional menu with town purchase categories. The items available in the shop are dependent upon your town rank plus items can be made and sold from other towns," Chloe explained. "There are additional expansions possible once certain requirements are met."

"What are those requirements?" Lee asked, starting to get the picture.

"I cannot say," Chloe told him succinctly.

"Ok, let's restore the defaults then and we can go from there," Lee told it. "Oh, why does it say the population is one? Gilbert has or had several hundred thousand residents, and there are something like 100-plus people in the downtown area right now including the folks at the theater and VFW."

"To become a citizen an individual must touch the Town Crystal and swear allegiance," Chloe stated.

"Oh boy. That's not going to go over well," Lee said.

"They will be unable to access any town functions or the shop without doing so," Chloe informed him.

At this point, Jak walked up and touched the crystal. He read off the notification.

Do you swear allegiance to the Town of Gilbert? 5% of coins earned will be automatically deposited into the town bank and you will gain access to the shop. Y/N

"Seems pretty straightforward to me," Jak told them after saying "Yes." "Now where is the shop?"

"Chloe restore defaults," Lee told the AI.

TOWN NOTIFICATION: The Town of Gilbert has reached level 1!

"Very well. Default tax left at 5%..."

"Water Tower and Manatech pump system detected. Activating water system." There were several cheers at that statement.

"Class Tower Detected. Transporting to Town Hall facility." The miniature water tower appeared next to the town crystal.

"Activating town bank." 10 of the counters suddenly turned into what looked like ATMs.

"Activating town shop." Around the room miniature versions of the crystal appeared on the counters. There were enough counters for up to 20 people to access them at a time. Goose immediately went over to one and touched it.
